- Dorset
For those families who desire an adventure in the Great Outdoors and perhaps a wild water slide ride or two, Shire county’s beloved Dorset is the way to go. Known for its Jurassic Coast, Dorset is geographically defined by its craggy bluffs where fossil-filled rock formations bend into breathtaking landmarks. One of the most famous of these landmarks is Durdle Door, an archaic limestone arch that dips into the beautiful waters of Lulworth Cove. Lulworth Cove is a great place to spend a day swimming and picnicking, but when you tire of the natural beaches, you can always pop on over to the Sandworld Sculpture Park or catch some thrills at Splashdown.
- London
Who doesn’t have the magnificent city of London somewhere on their bucket list? Give your little ones a trip they’ll never forget with an excursion that includes catching a show at the West End, a Harry Potter tour of the city, kid-friendly afternoon tea, and, of course, a stop by Buckingham Palace to see the legendary guards in action.
- Blackpool
Blackpool is to the United Kingdom what Coney Island is to America. For old-school carnival cheer, head over to the famous Blackpool Pleasure Beach for heart-pumping roller coasters, bumper cars, a Nickelodeon-themed land, and all the sugary/greasy/fried goodness your stomach can handle. Central Pier offers a host of dazzling arcade games and beautiful seaside sunset views. When it’s time to bring the fun indoors, a visit to Blackpool Tower is a must, and Madame Tussaud’s wax museum promises an afternoon of enjoyment (and probably a few “celebrity” sight-seeing).
- Scottish Highlands
For a trip that’s straight out of a fairy tale, making a pilgrimage to the Scottish Highlands is strongly recommended. Scotland’s Storybook Trail is the quickest way to find yourself whisked to a magical parallel dimension where the storybook musings of all of your favorite childhood authors come to life. If you’re still craving a little magic and whimsy afterwards, you can always hit up Loch Lomond for some beachside fun and a river cruise, where you may just catch a glance of Scotland’s most famous resident, Nessie.
